September Focus: Basic Education & Literacy
Aligned with Rotary’s monthly theme (page 2), RCCMT strengthened its commitment to literacy and education initiatives across communities.
Read & Rise – Empowering Through Literacy
A flagship literacy initiative (page 3):
- Partnership with Rotaract Club of Edith Cowan University & Pick a Book
- 450+ books collected
- Engaged students, Rotaractors, and Interactors
This project continues into Phase 2, expanding access to knowledge and learning opportunities.
World Cleanup Day – Environmental Impact in Action
On 20th September, RCCMT led a large-scale cleanup at Wellawatte Railway Station (page 4):
- 60+ volunteers participated
- 3 waste bins donated for long-term impact
- Collaboration with Rotaract & Interact clubs
This initiative demonstrates how community-led action creates sustainable environmental change.
Club Assembly & General Meeting Highlights
September engagements (page 5) focused on:
- Strategic updates from leadership
- Interactive session: Rotary Quest – Values in Action
- Knowledge sharing sessions & quizzes
- Strong fellowship and engagement
These meetings reinforced alignment, energy, and execution focus within the club.
International Flag Exchanges – Strengthening Global Rotary Ties

RCCMT Partners with Export Development Board (EDB)
A high-impact strategic initiative (page 8):

- Focus: export readiness, financial management, scaling businesses
- First session conducted by Rtn. Hazel Pereira
This initiative moves beyond awareness into practical economic empowerment.
Cover Story: Blind Walk 2025 – A Decade of Impact
The highlight of this issue (page 11):
- 10th consecutive year
- 500+ participants
- Location: National Museum & Viharamahadevi Green Path
- Funds raised: ~LKR 500,000
More importantly:
- Shift from awareness → sustainable impact model
- Focus on preventable blindness
Phase 02 (page 12):
- SME livelihood support for visually impaired
- Spectacle donation projects

This positions Blind Walk as a flagship national-level Rotary initiative.
Suwa Matha – Continuing Community Care
October contribution (page 12):
- 18 dry ration packs distributed
- 18 rice packs (5KG each)
- Ongoing maternal health support
This project continues to deliver consistent grassroots impact.
