
The Hope on Wheels initiative, a collaboration between Rotary District 3220 (Sri Lanka & Maldives) and Rotary District 2982 (India), celebrated its first phase at Independence Square, marking a day of unity, service, and community impact.
The event was graced by distinguished guests including the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santhosh Jha, Past Rotary International President K.R. Ravindran, District Governors Sushena Ranatunga (RID 3220) and V. Sivakumar (RID 2982), along with past district governors, Rotarians, and representatives from both countries.
Rotary youth participation was vibrant, with support from District Rotaract Representative Shanel Mendis and Rotaractors of RID 3220, as well as District Interact Representative Damian de Cruz and Interactors of District 3220.
Through this initiative, 1,000 bicycles have been donated to students and individuals across Sri Lanka, enhancing access to education, livelihoods, and economic opportunities. Hope on Wheels exemplifies the power of Rotary’s global partnerships in driving sustainable community change.
