On the 20th of October, the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town together with our family of Rotaractors and Interactors successfully concluded our signature Mid Town Family Project, “Blind Walk”. This year marked the 10th consecutive Blind Walk, a decade of spreading awareness and standing in solidarity with the visually impaired.
Participants came together for a meaningful 1.5 KM blindfolded walk around Green Path, symbolizing the daily challenges faced by those with visual impairments. Following the walk, an after-event was held at the National Museum Auditorium, celebrating the talents of Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors. Funds raised through this project will be dedicated to uplifting the lives of the visually impaired, supporting their economy, healthcare, and education.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Project Chair Rimshan Rizvi, our generous sponsors Sanasa Life, Lady J, and Hayleys Solar, along with Anchor and Prima as our food and beverage sponsors. Special thanks also go to ChoKoLAATe, our youth media partner, Crew Point for photography, and to Derana and Swarnawahini for media coverage.
The event was further enriched by the presence of world champion Dilantha Malagamuwa, activist for the visually impaired Ishan Jalleel, and cricketing star Dasun Shanaka, who added great value and spirit to the day. We are also grateful to DG Sushena Ranatunga and fellow Presidents Michael Jayawardana, Rasanga Abhishek, Dulani Nissanka, and Crysantha Perera for their unwavering support.
Above all, we thank our incredible Mid Town family of Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors for the dedication, love, and effort poured into this project. The 10th Blind Walk was truly a memorable and fulfilling day — a walk to remember, taken with heart to tell the community that #YouMatter.
